Institute of Queer Theory in Berlin

Letica Sabsay speaks on 'The emergence of the sexual citizen' as part of a workshop organised by the Institute of Queer Theory entitled 'subtil? wie sexualität rassisiert wird', 23-24 April 2012.

Paper abstract: The occidental figure of the sexual right-bearing citizen involves a particular liberal self that has been constituted against a myriad of others marked by cultural, religious and racialised differences. In order to consider this “othering” logic, I will critically focus on the conceptions of ‘diversity’ and of liberal freedom.
